Wooden boat building fasteners

Fastener dilema - woodenboat, I have recently installed the first plank of many on my 1976 45 foot wooden nova scotia style lobster boat recontruction, the plank is at the waterline amidships, 1 1/8" white spruce planking over tamarrack frames. i used 2" #12 stainless screws but recently, on this forum, found out about crevice corrosion in stainless steel below the waterline.. Plank frame fasteners - woodenboat, Several questions. i have read bits and pieces of 'boat strength' by dave gerr and he seems to praise bronze screws and down copper rivets because the shrinking and swelling of the wood can loosen the rivet or indent the wood and loosen the fastening (+/- page 82). another book endorsed by many is larry pardey's which i have read and he seems to believe rivets will hold up longer than screws.
