Build canoe seat

Contoured canoe seats - woodenboat, Getting ready to build the seats for my canoe and wanted to get some input on seats that have a rounded contour. my plan is to make them out of an 1 1/2" by 3/4" ash frame, steam bent to get an 1 1/2" dip across a 16" span. does anyone have any experience using this type of seat. looking for pros and cons.. Canoe seat placement - woodenboat, Don't build in a seat. i took the seats out of my english canoe to refinish the interior and i never put them back. instead i built a box that was shaped to accomodate the hull shape. this way i could attach a back and move the seat to any place in the canoe to adapt to different paddling situations..
